  Il modello 2000 venne introdotto sul mercato dalla Lamy nel lontano 1966.
La penna venne progettata dal designer industriale Gerd A. Müller, ed è considerata tuttora uno dei migliori esempi del design moderno per la semplicità delle linee e la funzionalità della realizzazione, e segna l’inizio di una tendenza stilistica e di una filosofia produttiva basata su essenzialità e funzionalità che da allora fino ad oggi ha continuato a contraddistinguere tutta la produzione della Lamy.
